To mark Clean Air Day on June 20th, Octopus expert Charlie and automotive, lifestyle content creator TGE set off in the ORA 03 for an emission-free road trip.

On top of showing just how easy it is to drive EV and recharge, we set the challenge to highlight key holiday destinations on the South Coast. Because if you stay in the UK for your summer breaks, you’ll be cutting your carbon footprint too.

Wait, what is clean air day?

Put simply, it’s the UK’s largest air pollution campaign. Establishedin 2017, it’s the brainchild of environmental charity Global Action Plan. It exists because sadly, 43,000 deaths in the UK, every year are linked to air pollution. It’s a shocking fact but the initiative is about inspiring positive change.

Start your journey in the home of tennis with centre court just a short walk away. Whilst the car is charging, you can even pop in for a tour without the match-day crowds. There are hundreds of chargers to choose from in this area of London so it’s perfect place to power up and travel on south.

Salt’s Farm Shop – Rye, East Sussex

Seasonal or locally-sourced food is much better for the planet.And Salts Farm Shop has that aplenty. Grab a coffee, ice cream or just wander the aisles full of fresh produce. It’s just outside Rye –a town famous for its cobbled streets and medieval charm.

Greatstone-On-Sea – Kent

Discover two miles of sandy beach and dunes bursting with rare plants and wildlife. Why not try a sea-dip or water sports? You can even wander on to Romney Marsh – a unique landscape, separated by a maze of waterways. Remember, green spaces act as filters, absorbing pollutants and improving air quality.

Dymchurch, Kent

Next up is this quaint coastal village. Head for the seafront amusement park where the whole family can enjoy rides like the ghost train and dodgems or grab your coppers and try your luck on the machines. To relax, stroll stunning sands at Dymchurch beach before grabbing traditional fish ‘n’ chips.
